Erika was born in late July 2009, weighed 7 pounds and 4 ounces, and was 19 inches long.
We drove up to the hospital at 8:30 p.m. and Erika was born at 9:07. She’s doing great, as is her mom.
Friday, July 31, 2009: Erika’s cheeks are filling out.
Sunday, August 2, 2009: Erika’s umbilical cord stump fell off today.
Sunday, August 9, 2009: Erika has been so sleepy yesterday and today. Still sleeping great. 6.5 hours two nights ago. Did some footprints of her tonight.
Thursday, August 13, 2009: We drew some high contrast pictures of shapes and whatnot above Erika’s changing table and she’s really into them. Also, I’m amazed by how she’s holding up her head all by herself. When she gets a little tired she just rests against my shoulder.
Sunday, August 16, 2009: First real smiles today.
Monday, August 17, 2009: Holds up her head well. Likes baths now, thankfully.
Monday, August 24, 2009: Loves to stand. Stretching out. Not all curled up.
Tuesday, August 25, 2009: Loves being outside. Loves staring at the tomato plants.
Saturday, August 29, 2009: Erika is figuring out how to suck on her hands. She’s determined.

Saturday, October 17, 2009: Erika just fell asleep in my arms. So sweet. One minute I was walking around with her snuggling me. The next minute she’s asleep.
Saturday, October 17, 2009: Grasping at the bears on the bouncy seat, spinning them, the first time reaching for toys.
Saturday, October 31, 2009: Erika rolled over for the first time. No, she wasn’t in her caterpillar costume.
Saturday, November 7, 2009: Playing in the exersaucer. Two hands together in the mouth. Grabbing for toys. Obsessively watching Naomi. Squealings. So strong, very good with tummy time. Likes splashing in the bath.
Thursday, November 12, 2009: Erika is super smiley.
Thursday, November 19, 2009: Naomi and Erika make each other laugh so hard.
Tuesday, December 1, 2009: Such a squealer and yeller.
Sunday, December 6, 2009: Erika is very into toys. Reaching out and holding them. Examining them. Rolled over from her stomach to her back today.
Tuesday, December 15, 2009: Erika really noticed the cat this morning. So fuzzy. And look at her eyes. And I can pull the hair…
Wednesday, December 16, 2009: Erika is staring to sit up. She can sit for maybe five to ten seconds at a stretch.
