Erika's Journal for 2011

Saturday, January 8, 2011: Erika said “apple.”

Sunday, February 6, 2011: Erika is getting very good at following directions (put your hands up while we click your high chair tray into place) and helping us dress her (putting her hands in her sleeves, etc.).

Tuesday, February 8, 2011: Erika said “tiger.” In the bath, Erika like to pat her fat belly and say “belly”. Also in the bath she *loves* to poke her sister’s belly button.

Wednesday, February 16, 2011: So cute how Erika runs up and hugs my leg.

Wednesday, March 2, 2011: I woke up to Erika singing over and over, “I love Mommy. I love Daddy.”

Friday, March 4, 2011: Erika calls the cat “Squeaka.”

Sunday, March 6, 2011: To Erika “eggs” means any food. “I love eggs” song…

Sunday, March 20, 2011: Erika is getting very good about giving kisses and hugs upon request. She loves “Nay Nay” so much.

Tuesday, March 22, 2011: Erika’s first joke? She keeps putting her binky up to her eyes and ears and laughing.

Wednesday, April 6, 2011: Erika was telling Teresa the names of all the animals in an Eric Carle book: flamingo, hippo, zebra, panda bear…

Tuesday, April 12, 2011: Erika said “Easter eggs.”

Tuesday, April 12, 2011: I can’t believe Erika can put on her socks and shoes all by herself.

Thursday, April 28, 2011: At the end of “Green Eggs and Ham” Erika exclaimed, “He ate it! He ate it!” She’s very proud about full sentences.

Thursday, May 12, 2011: Erika is speaking in full sentences. She wandered into the bathroom with one shoe on and I asked her about her other shoe. She came back a minute later holding the missing shoe and saying, “I found it!”

Wednesday, June 29, 2011: Erika is singing her ABC’s, almost perfectly.

Monday, July 11, 2011: Erika’s explanation about where the puzzle piece at school went: “Mikey ate it.”

Tuesday, August 2, 2011: “Where’s the other one sock?”

Saturday, August 20, 2011: “It’s time for eat, Nay Nay.”

Friday, August 26, 2011: It was very interesting to wake up and only have Erika and myself in the house this morning. (Teresa is in Ohio helping her poor mom in the hospital and Naomi spend the night at Julia’s house.) Erika had a bare butt when I opened her door, but otherwise she was a little angel, eating up her yogurt and singing “I love Daddy” (with a little prompting) as I carried her on my shoulders to day care.

Tuesday, September 6, 2011: I dropped Erika off at her first day at her new school and she seemed totally comfortable. She and I were happy to see that her old friend Kellen had switched schools too. She noticed a picture of our neighbor Jack on the wall and we heard he’ll be back from vacation soon. It was snack time and she was munching on bananas when I left.

Monday, December 19, 2011: “Elephant and Piggie are funny guys!”

Wednesday, December 21, 2011: “Swiper’s a bad guy.”

Tuesday, January 3, 2011: “I will begin to dance.”

Wednesday, January 4, 2011: “I don’t need any more blankies. I’m good.”

Sunday, January 8, 2011: “We all love each other. I’m the little sister. Naomi is the big, huge sister.”

Thursday, January 12, 2011: “I’m a little elephant called Erika.”
