Saturday, January 2, 2010: Returning from the bathroom at a birthday party Naomi announced several times loudly with a big smile, “Naomi’s back!”

Sunday, January 3, 2010: Mid-bedtime story I told Naomi what to say when you chop down a tree and several minutes later as I was saying goodnight and closing her door I could hear her whisper, “Tiiiiimber!”

Monday, January 4, 2010: “Erika, this is how grownups smile.”

Saturday, January 9, 2010: Naomi wanted to leave the lift ticket on her coat so she can ski again when she’s four. “Daddy, am I going to have this thing on my coat forever?” “No, we can take that lift ticket off now if you want. We’re all done.” “I want to leave it on so I can ski again when I’m four.”

Monday, January 11, 2010: “Daddy, if the gummy bears have their hands on their tummies then that means they want Naomi to eat them.”

Thursday, January 21, 2010: “Is high school before kindergarten?”

Saturday, January 23, 2010: “You are the best, Bunny. And the east. You live in the east. You are the Easter Bunny.”

Wednesday, February 17, 2010: Naomi tucked herself in for the first time.

Saturday, March 13, 2010: Naomi is writing her name.

Friday, March 19, 2010: About a month ago Naomi told me she’s going to marry Connor. Today his mom told me they got married last week.

Sunday, March 21, 2010: I’m about halfway through reading Charlotte’s Web Naomi keeps asking for more.

Monday, March 22, 2010: Naomi’s book to Samantha and Tabitha: * This is a colorful swan. * I love my monkey Milo. That makes it a pumpkin. * Ponyo is Naomi talk for some things are really big. * One day our cat jumped in a box. * Some things look pretty big, and some things have horns. * Some things are really big and they fit on two pages. * Some things like trains run on tracks. * Naomi loves you.

Tuesday, March 23, 2010: At dinner, Naomi said, “Some grownups eat a little bit of gristle each day.”

Saturday, April 10, 2010: “Erika needs to give the Rody back. It’s unroadable.”

Tuesday, April 20, 2010: Noami is writing her name! In other news, she asked me to do something “immediately.” Has pink toenails on one foot, purple on the other.

Monday, April 26, 2010: “One day Eliot thought Obama was a monster and another day Jonathan thought he was a dinosaur.”

Friday, May 28, 2010: “Erika, you are my great wish. I wished for a baby.”

Wednesday, June 23, 2010: Naomi can ride her bike (with training wheels) now.

Friday, June 25, 2010: Naomi can write some numbers (1 through 4) and the others with help. She’s starting to recognize more words (besides her own name), like yes and no. Unrelated, she said, “I like my daddy more than my mommy. Did Mommy hear that?”

Wednesday, August 11, 2010: “That sign should say ‘No parking this side PLEASE’.

Thursday, August 12, 2010: “I am as hot as a fudgesicle.”

September 2010: You always have to check the feet of the people Naomi has drawn to see if they’re mermaids. Also, Erika is often rendered as very small and trollish with hair that sticks up, but she’s usually smiling.

Saturday, October 2, 2010: Naomi had two saves as a soccer goalie in her second week of practice.

Monday, October 18, 2010: “If you carry me up the stairs you’ll get more kisses in a day…”

Tuesday, October 19, 2010: “I think Erika loves you more than Mommy because Mommy wipes her face.” “Well, Naomi, I think Erika loves you even more than Mommy.” “I never wipe Erika’s face.”

Saturday, October 23, 2010: “Whistles are gross. Trust me, Mommy.”

Wednesday, October 27, 2010: “My bag of Halloween candy is going to be so big you, Mommy, Erika and I will all have to carry it. And we’ll have to use two hands.”

Sunday, November 14, 2010: Teresa told Naomi she’d like to bring some activity books on the plane and asked what else we should bring. “Erika,” Naomi replied.

Wednesday, November 17, 2010: “None of us are mommy’s girls. We’re both daddy’s girls.”

Monday, November 29, 2010: “Sorry but Erika dashed right into the picture before I could draw you.”
